The Traveling Plate x Surfrider Foundation x Kona Brewing Company
Surfrider Foundation partnered with Kona Brewing Company and over one hundred chefs and restaurants across the state to produce the 4th Annual Traveling Plate Hawaiʻi and Restaurant Ambassador campaign through pau hana events.
For the entire month of August, each participating Restaurant Ambassador created a special “Traveling Plate” dish and a portion of proceeds from each dish or beverage purchased went directly back to Surfrider’s local Hawai‘i Chapters. To sweeten the pot, Kona Brewing Company matched donations dollar for dollar up to $15,000. Together, they raised $39,476.50 to benefit Surfrider and their Ocean Friendly Restaurant program.

Collaborating with restaurants, chefs, and farmers across the islands, the 3rd annual Traveling Plate tour celebrated the legacy of Easterseals Hawaiʻi by highlighting the vibrant food scene we have in Hawaiʻi and shining the light on the farmers and producers who make this possible.

The Traveling Plate x Easterseals Hawaiʻi
The Traveling Plate continued its tour in the summer of 2017 with culinary events on Maui, Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i Island and O‘ahu. The goal of each event was to build on the partnerships established in 2016 and cultivate new relationships to increase the awareness and funds raised for Easterseals Hawaiʻi’s programs and services through an expanded statewide marketing effort promoting locally sourced food and the creative talents of Hawaiʻi’s finest chefs.
In 2017, The Traveling Plate series extended beyond these signature events to include participation by restaurants statewide (“Restaurant Ambassadors”) who offered specific dishes and/or drinks using local products in their restaurants. A portion of sales from these dishes benefited Easterseals Hawaiʻi as additional fundraisers.

The Traveling Plate x Easterseals Hawaiʻi
In 2016, Under My Umbrella, Inc partnered with Easterseals Hawaiʻi to launch the first Traveling Plate series; a unique “traveling” culinary event stretching across our island chain (Ka Pae `Aina O Hawai`i).
Over 20 chefs and restaurants, 45 local farmers and 20 food and beverage companies came together to celebrate not only the many achievements of the Easterseals Hawaiʻi foundation but also to highlight local chefs and locally produced dining.
